A Corner Reimagined: The Delavan Grider Community Urban Space

In July 2026, the transformation of the Delavan Grider Community Urban Space reached an important milestone with renewed landscaping and the installation of a new sign at the corner of East Delavan Avenue and Wyoming Avenue. The before-and-after images show what sustained care, partnership, and neighborhood pride can accomplish. What was once a weathered and overlooked corner now welcomes residents with color, purpose, and a visible reminder that neighbors united can make a difference.

The new sign recognizes the Building Blocks Collective, Delavan Grider Community Center, Hobson’s Dry Cleaners, and the volunteers and community partners whose work helped re-establish the space.

Transforming a Corner, Strengthening a Community

The Walter C. Hobson Community Outreach Foundation is proud to support the transformation of the corner of East Delavan Avenue and Wyoming Avenue into a vibrant green space for the surrounding neighborhood. What began as an overlooked area is becoming a place that reflects care, pride, and possibility. This project is a reminder that meaningful neighborhood improvement often starts with a shared vision and grows through the dedication of residents, volunteers, local organizations, and community partners working together. We are honored to help invest in spaces that make our neighborhoods more welcoming, more beautiful, and stronger for the people who call them home.

We want to thank the Norfolk Block Club and Tool Library.

Community in Action: William L. Gaiter Parkway

The Walter C. Hobson Community Outreach Foundation was proud to support the continued revitalization of William L. Gaiter Parkway alongside neighborhood residents, local organizations, businesses, and volunteers. More than 30 community members came together to plant bulbs, remove litter, care for trees, and improve shared public spaces throughout the Parkway. Events like this reflect what our foundation believes in deeply: meaningful change happens when neighbors, businesses, and community partners work side by side. We are honored to help invest in projects that strengthen our neighborhoods, preserve local legacies, and create a cleaner, more welcoming Buffalo for generations to come.

Empowering Students Through Resilience

The Walter C. Hobson Community Outreach Foundation is proud to partner with author Duncan Kirkwood to donate 100 copies of Rerouting: Resilience Tools and Tactics to the students of Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering mental health and resilience among young people in our community. By providing access to these valuable resources, we honor Walter C. Hobson’s legacy of uplifting and empowering the next generation.

We are grateful to support students in building the skills they need to thrive in and beyond the classroom. Community members and local businesses who wish to sponsor additional books and continue this mission of impact can reach out to us to join in this effort.
